A Woman’s Sister Wanted the Porsche Their Father Left in His Will, But She Had a Wild and Devious Scheme to Keep It

A woman recently gained ownership of a car that her late father granted her in his will. This came after years of fighting her family members over the vehicle and even calling the police. Now she’s on bad terms with her family, but she insists she did nothing wrong. Here’s what she had to say.

Sadly, the original poster’s father passed away. He anticipated his death months in advance and divided his belongings among his four children. “We all got a little money and a dilapidated vehicle or few,” said the woman. She was sad to lose her father, but grateful for what he left her.

The car in question was a 1974 Porsche 914, “very abused,” according to the woman. “Other vehicles went to the other siblings,” she said. “Everyone received things, agreed Dad’s plan was fair, and nobody objected to anything.” Or so she thought.

Her sister was in charge

After their father’s death, the woman’s sister was in charge of distributing the cars. “My sister had all of the vehicle keys,” the woman explained. “I hired someone to put the Porsche in storage.” But because the woman was working on building a home where she could keep the vehicle, she needed time to prepare.

That’s when her siblings delivered the car to her when she was unprepared. “I had to cancel my arrangements, lose my deposit, and hustle to rearrange everything,” said the woman. “My brother and sister teased me about this, saying I should just give her the car if I couldn’t handle it. I declined.” Things only got worse from there.

The woman was expecting to be able to retrieve the car that was rightfully hers, but her sister made it nearly impossible. “My sister told me that our brother hit her car while putting my Porsche in her garage; then she began a long game of thwarting my attempts to retrieve it,” said the woman. After trying to resolve things amicably for a long time, the woman had finally had enough.

Calling the police

After two years of being denied the car that her deceased father had left for her, the woman decided to call the police. “They told me to come with a truck, and they would stand by,” she said. “My brother attempted to beat me to picking up the car, but I passed him on the highway.” It was a race to the Porsche, but the woman narrowly won.

The woman got what was hers, but not without an explosive fight. “When I arrived at my sister’s house, she and her boyfriend screamed at length and attracted plenty of attention, disowning me by the end,” she said. Her family hasn’t taken it well, either.

The fallout

The woman’s family blames her for the whole ordeal. For whatever reason, they seemed to think the car didn’t belong to her. “My sister doesn’t speak to me,” she explained. “My mom keeps telling me I need to apologize and give the car back to my sister, and my brother says, ‘You gave her that car. I was there.'”

The woman denies ever doing that. “I stand firm that I never gave it to her.” So she asked the Internet for its thoughts on the matter.

Commenters overwhelmingly supported the woman’s claim to the car. “Your family is a bunch of gaslighting thieves,” said one reply. Another agreed, “NTA by a mile, it was your car, and you gave her two years to give it back to you before getting the police involved.”
